We have signed the Diversity Charter

Jadek & Pensa among the signatories of the commitment to the values of diversity, inclusion and equality.

Jadek & Pensa was the first and only law firm in Slovenia to sign the Diversity Charter Slovenia, further committing ourselves to prevent all forms of discrimination and create a diversity policy that promotes equal opportunities, inclusion and diversity by recognising individual skills.

The Diversity Charter is one of Europe’s current voluntary diversity initiatives aimed at encouraging public and private organisations to implement and develop diversity policies in their organisations.

The Slovenian Diversity Charter is part of the European Platform of European Diversity Charters, coordinated by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers.

The Charter contains six principles for an organisation to follow in its work to promote diversity, non-discrimination and equal opportunities in the workplace.

By joining the Charter, we want to build on and further commit ourselves to actively act in accordance with our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy.

We are increasingly aware of the importance of social responsibility and want to actively work towards sustainable development, as we are convinced that every society, and therefore also our law firm, is (co-)responsible for sustainable development in line with the protected human rights. As one of our core values is zero tolerance of discrimination, we believe that diversity and inclusion are the cornerstones of sustainable efforts.

By signing the Charter, we want to commit ourselves to making further progress in creating a diverse workplace that values talent based on skills and abilities – regardless of national, racial or ethnic origin, national or social background, gender, colour, health, disability, religion or belief, age, sexual orientation, marital status, trade union membership, wealth or any other personal circumstance.

We also want to contribute to the development of anti-discrimination law and strive to ensure that our beliefs are communicated to our clients, thereby contributing to raising awareness in society.

On 9 December, on the eve of International Human Rights Day, our Managing Partner Aleksandra Jemc Merc attended the Diversity Charter Slovenia signing ceremony.

More about the event, which was held under the honorary patronage of the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, mag. Urška Klakočar Zupančič, can be found here (in Slovenian).

Diversity, inclusion and equality have always been a source of progress and development towards a fairer society. We want to be part of that.
