Jadek & Pensa is a law firm with a rich history in the Slovenian legal milieu, as our origins date back to 1958. Ever since our foundation, we have been committed to excellence, with the aim of exceeding the expectations of our clients.

History

2024

Membership in the World Services Group (WSG)

The involvement of clients in international business requires cooperation between law firms from different jurisdictions. In order to strengthen cooperation and thereby achieve quality, fast, efficient and integrated solutions for our clients, we have joined the World Services Group (WSG) international network. WSG is one of the world’s leading networks of independent law firms, whose members operate collectively in over 150 jurisdictions and are distinguished by the highest quality principles, a high level of expertise and excellent client service.

2024

Membership in the Slovenian Business Club (SBC)

The SBC was founded in 2014 and has around 500 members, Slovenian companies that are performing above average and represent the backbone of the Slovenian economy. Our law firm became a member of this prestigious club in 2024.

We joined the SBC because we share the SBC’s golden principles, which have been the foundation of our law firm since its establishment:
– fair treatment of employees, clients, the local community and the state;
– development of young talent;
– social responsibility and concern for improving the business environment in Slovenia;
– innovation and support for projects of national importance;
– enhancing Slovenia’s visibility in the world;
– zero tolerance of corruption.

We will be able to better implement our core values and forge new business ties within the SBC, and use our knowledge and experience to contribute to the success of the Club and its members.

2023

Membership in the Slovenian Technology Forum

The Slovenian Technology Forum is an economic association of high-tech, export-oriented, fast-growing companies, which advocates for the Slovenia of the future as a green, social state governed by the rule of law, and a country in which the economy is a key link in ensuring social well-being through the creation of quality jobs and employee participation in business ownership. We were invited to join this association in 2023 as a technologically advanced law firm and were recognized as being able to bring our expertise and experience to help them achieve their goal.

2022

Membership in the Diversity Charter

We believe that every company, including our law firm, is (co)responsible for sustainable development, consistent with protected human rights. Since one of our core values is zero tolerance for discrimination, we believe that diversity and inclusion are the cornerstones of sustainable efforts.

By signing the Charter, we have committed to further progress in creating a diverse workplace that values talent based on skills and abilities.

We also want to participate in the development of anti-discrimination law and aim to bring these beliefs to our clients in a balanced way, thus contributing to raising awareness in society.

Membership in Zeleno omrežje (Green Network)

As we recognize the importance of sustainable development and social responsibility, we joined Zeleno omrežje (Eng. Green Network), which highlights the sustainability and environmental achievements of organizations, their green products and services, and reveals their concrete steps towards environmentally and socially responsible action.

Membership in the Sustainable Business Network Slovenia (CER)

Our commitment to sustainable business led to our decision to become the first Slovenian law firm to join the first and largest partnership for a sustainable economy in Slovenia. CER brings together companies of all sizes committed to the green transformation, decarbonisation, circular economy and socially responsible business.

2018

Membership in the AHK – German-Slovene Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Our law firm joined the German-Slovene Chamber of Commerce and Industry because we believe in the power of networking and knowledge sharing. We actively cooperate with key economic players to co-shape a positive economic environment. Our presence in the AHK allows us to network more effectively with other members, thereby promoting the exchange of experience, knowledge and best practices in different sectors.
Membership opens the door to cooperation with leading experts and companies on the German market, creating many opportunities for us to gain a deeper understanding of the local market, regulatory frameworks and economic trends.

2015

Transformation into a limited liability company: Odvetniška pisarna Jadek & Pensa d.o.o.

The growth of the firm, the increasing complexity of our work and the increasingly diverse challenges of our clients have dictated the transformation of the firm and its organizational modernisation. We put in place modern internal organizational structures which, in addition to better working conditions, facilitate the further specialization of our professionals so that we can offer our clients even higher-quality services at all times.

2013

Membership in AmCham Slovenia

Through its extensive network of members from various industries, AmCham Slovenia connects knowledge, generates new ideas and proposes concrete solutions, and thus acts as a voice for Slovenian and international companies. Our law firm joined the AmCham Slovenia business community because it recognizes the importance of sharing best practices, discussing important issues, and networking and socializing internationally. With AmCham Slovenia, we share the goal of creating a better business and living environment.

Our partner Eva Gostiša is a member of AmCham’s Intellectual Property and Digital Regulation Committee, which is active in raising awareness about the importance of intellectual property rights for Slovenia’s development breakthrough.

We provide younger colleagues in the firm the opportunity to participate in the AmCham YOUng Platform to encourage their personal and career development.

2012

Membership in the international network Association of European Energy and Climate Lawyers (AEEC)

Due to the growing market demand for expertise in energy law and quick access to top legal services also in foreign markets, our law firm became an active member of the international network Association of European Energy and Climate Lawyers (AEEC). AEEC is the leading international association of legal advisors in the field of energy and environmental law and infrastructure projects.

2008

Formation of Lawyers & Friends, SE European Legal Network

A group of leading law firms from the countries of former Yugoslavia decided to set up a network of friendly law firms to meet the needs of their clients. The core participating firms are: Babić i partneri, Zagreb, Croatia; Čukić & Markov, Skopje, North Macedonia; Jadek & Pensa, Ljubljana, Slovenia; and Prica i partneri, Belgrade, Serbia. 2001

Transformation into a personal company: Odvetniška pisarna Jadek & Pensa d.n.o. – o.p.

The growing number of clients, the desire for quality teamwork, the need to provide material conditions for the work of a larger group of attorneys, and the need for specialization have led to the transformation from a two-attorney partnership into a personal company open for new attorneys to join.

1993

Merger of Srečo Jadek and Pavle Pensa Law Offices into Jadek & Pensa Law Office

Jadek & Pensa Law Office was established as a partnership. The aim of the merger was to create a law firm that would specialize in commercial law and offer high quality legal services both in managing disputes and in protecting the interests of clients in concluding transactions and in their day-to-day operations. The growing complexity of commercial litigation and international transactions required the teamwork of an increasing number of qualified attorneys. Many outstanding young attorneys started their legal careers as junior associates and associates at Jadek & Pensa.

1990

Establishment of Pavle Pensa Law Office

In accordance with his earlier career as a research fellow at the Centre of International Cooperation and Development, specializing in international economic and business relationships, Pavle Pensa focused his attention on commercial law, in particular foreign investments.

1984

Continuation of the law firm as Srečo Jadek Law Office

After registering as an attorney with the Slovenian Bar Association, Srečo Jadek resumed working on the files of the Andrej Jadek Law Office and continued his father’s general practice and specialization in litigation, but the focus of his work gradually shifted towards commercial law. During this period, the firm asserted itself in insolvency law as one of the firsts in Slovenia, and Srečo Jadek became an insolvency practitioner in one of the largest insolvency proceedings in the country.

1983

Temporary takeover of the law firm by attorney Milosav Miladinović

Following Andrej Jadek’s death, the law firm was temporarily taken over by the attorney Milosav Miladinović, whilst Srečo Jadek was employed as junior associate.

1958

Establishment of Andrej Jadek Law Office

After a short career as a judge, Andrej Jadek founded his own law firm. As was customary in Central Europe until the early 1990s, the law firm operated as a general practice, covering all areas of criminal, civil and commercial law, and offering its services to both natural persons and legal entities. It asserted itself mostly as an excellent service in resolving contentious matters.

We take a comprehensive approach to the development and training of younger colleagues from the start of their careers, by offering them a mentoring program, exposure to different forms and methods of working as an attorney, and in-house and external training. We also realize that younger colleagues can make an important contribution to our progress through their ideas and innovative proposals, something we actively encourage.

We have not forgotten to include a social component to enhance the cohesion and relationships between colleagues. We organize teambuilding events, sports activities and other forms of relaxed socializing.
