New version of the Standard Classification of Activities comes into effect

Standard Classification of Activities update.

As of January 1, 2025, a new version of the Standard Classification of Activities, named SKD 2025, has come into effect, replacing the previously applicable SKD 2008.

Gradual Transition to SKD 2025 in Statistical Surveys

The changes introduced by SKD 2025 require adjustments in the use of SKD as a mandatory national standard for determining activities and classifying business entities and their units. This classification is intended for use in official and other administrative data collections, as well as for statistical and analytical purposes at both national and international levels.

During the transition period, statistical data will still be collected, processed, and published according to SKD 2008. The transition periods will vary depending on the specific survey, with the complete switch to SKD 2025 expected by 2029. A preliminary transition plan for individual statistical surveys is available online, with updates expected.

Detailed Explanations of SKD 2025

The final version of the SKD 2025 explanatory notes, based on the fifth version of the explanatory notes for NACE Rev. 2.1, is now available. Additional clarifications, which are no longer part of the new regulation, will be updated as changes occur in the explanatory notes for NACE Rev. 2.1 and/or due to other modifications.
